Welcome to Sire Spot! The idea for Sire Spot began somewhere in the time frame of
2018-2019 when Owen and Chase were roommates in college at Kansas State University. One
day, we received a boar stud catalog in mail and thought to ourselves, who still mails catalogs
for anything? The excitement of getting these catalogs when I was younger was always
something I anticipated. However, once we got older and had breeding decisions to make, I
realized how inefficient the whole process really was! If you want to compare say, Duroc boars,
then you will need to go to every individual boar stud’s website and search for their Duroc
boars.
It was soon after this that I was looking to purchase a new vehicle and was able to sort and
filter vehicles that are for sale by color, make, model, year, price range etc. After seeing how
easy some websites make it to find the perfect car, I thought why not make it just as easy and
efficient to find the perfect sire for your breeding program? Sire Spot is designed to allow you
to filter sires so that you can find the perfect boar, bull, ram, buck or stallion to improve your
herd in the exact areas of need. Whether looking for a higher average daily gain or a lower birth
weight, Sire Spot allows you to find the right breed with the right traits to make it the perfect
sire for your operation.
One other improvement that we believe Sire Spot brings to the livestock industry is allowing
small farmers and ranchers to be on an equal playing field with large stud companies in terms
of advertisement of sires. On Sire Spot, a rancher who has one terrific Angus bull can now
register him on our website and sell semen (or rent the animal himself) the same way a bull
stud company would. We believe that by allowing everyone the opportunity to profit from their
best sires, we will compile the most complete and competitive range of sires for every species.
Sire Spot does not sell semen or live animals. Instead we simply redirect breeders looking for
the perfect sire to the websites or phone numbers of the people who own the animals. By using
this approach, Sire Spot directs traffic to your website and farms which in turn gives you a
larger marketing outreach.
